Cathy Lauderbaugh '12

Cathy Lauderbaugh received her master's degree in Speech-language Pathology from SLHS in 2012 and began her work in early intervention for Talking Together in Denver, CO. Since then, she has incorporated much of what she learned from her time with Talking Together into her practice in Boulder County, relating to us that she "is thankful for the fabulous mentoring of SLHS Alumna Marla Moore, '96, who helped her to develop strategies that support the whole child and family".

As a speech therapist, Cathy developed innovative interventions for children birth to ten-years-old, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, learning disabilities, and developmental delays. She specializes in early intervention and family coaching but also provides services to preschool and school-age children. She greatly enjoys teaching community classes to new parents in the Boulder areas, covering topics about speech and language milestones and strategies. Cathy's practice provides full-service therapy including articulation and phonological processing, language, early reading skills, sensory awareness, and oral-motor and feeding therapy. She strongly believes therapy is most effective when it incorporates the needs of the family and the whole child. She travels to areas within and surrounding Boulder County, CO, including Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, Erie,
Superior, Broomfield, Longmont, and Niwot.

Cathy is also a certified therapeutic riding instructor through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH, Intl.) and enjoys supporting children's therapy goals through therapeutic riding and hippotherapy. She is an avid equestrian with many years of experience training horses and teaching riding across multiple disciplines. She has 26 years of riding experience and has been teaching both children and adults since 1999. Her varied background includes managing children's horse camps, showing hunter/Jumpers, participating in the East Coast Intercollegiate Show Circuit, cross country jump courses and serving as a Demo-rider in Ireland. In addition she has experience with young and green horses, completed a saddle fitting apprenticeship through the British Society of Master's Saddler's Class, and has had student positions with dressage trainers in Colorado.
